Ever Seen A Drain Like This?

If you can see water at the bottom and it also drains water when you add it then it is trapped.

Is this up to code in CA?

The flex lines are just asking to trap stuff in it. Where is the P trap. Routing the pipe up like that is not a Ptrap. Is that stuff from Ikea. I am shocked that the builder does not know that is not correct. Was a plumber hired to do the work or did he have the finish carpenter do it.

    type "L" copper elbows

If it is in the dirt it has to be braised, yes erosion is a problem. I am not sure if it can be soldered and then covered with anything. I just know we cant have solder joints underground.

Can you help me identify this pop up assembly?

I have probably installed a thousand pop-ups and none have a washer on the nut. That I believe is what caused your issue. Tapered washer into the hole then ball in then nut against the ball.

Sewer gases/water coming into sink when doing laundry

Is there a trap on that standpipe. The drain is not the correct size. These machines move the water way to fast for what looks like a 1 1/2" drain connected to what looks like another 1 1/2" drain. If it were me I would just dump it into the laundry tub and cap that standpipe line.

Can you help me identify this pop up assembly?

That should work, you could always just swipe the nut. I noticed you have a washer in the tailpiece and another on the lever. Did you have it installed that way.

    sewer smell in basement

Where did you say that sump pump discharges to. If it is into your sewer how is that connection made. It should not go into the sanitary system unless it is sealed and vented to outside.

Is this up to code in CA?

That isn't code in Istanbul. What the hell is going on in this world.

Can you help me identify this pop up assembly?

I believe that is a generic that comes with the faucets they sell at the big boxes. You should be able to find a plastic replacement that will have the same connection.

Ever Seen A Drain Like This?

Shine a light down it or drop a penny in it. If you see or hear water then more than likely it is trapped.

Pictures. I am not going to respond to something someone told you unless I see what it is they were looking at. You realize every house and every situation is different so pictures really help, me at least.

    flexible gas pipe

Ask him which type he is going to use. That piping needs to be grounded unless he is using a certain type like Gastite Flash Shield. You generally have to upsize the piping depending on the length of the runs as the corrugated pipe effect volume.

Need help to fix leak in copper pipe/plastic connection on sprinklers

That looks like a cpvc FIP. Female Iron Pipe Adapter. You could cut the cpvc and unscrew the adapter and screw on a new one with a coupling to reconnect the cpvc.

Floor drain back up in basement - HELP!

I would find someone else even if you pay an out of area charge for another opinion. I have very little faith in anything Mr. Robber says. They are strictly upsell. There is a good chance the black is from the cast iron pipe. If it were me I would get visual proof of broken pipe before I shelled...

    Gas water heater vent

I know they have to make money and I have no overhead helping a friend, I was done in 2 hours and I am a little rusty. So 2 hours at 1100 is quite the markup. Years back I was doing service for my friend's company and he was charging 800 for a 40 regular vent and our cost was 260. I tried to...
