Whenever I use the laundry (washer), then a little bit of water leaks from area that connects the grey drainage hose to the black pipe (as can be seen in the photo). Also, water begins to rise from the drain of the sink into the actual sink, which makes the room smell like a sewer.

I would really appreciate some feedback as to how I can deal with this!

it doesn't look like your drain hose is pushed into the (standpipe) try pushing it in and zip tieing it to the stand pipe

has it always backed up into the sink or is this a new symptom ??????
if its new your drain may be getting slow

Is there a trap on that standpipe. The drain is not the correct size. These machines move the water way to fast for what looks like a 1 1/2" drain connected to what looks like another 1 1/2" drain. If it were me I would just dump it into the laundry tub and cap that standpipe line.
