    Sewage Smell from Laundry Room

We had the same problem several years ago after moving into a new house. The house was brand and we had been there for a few months so did not relate it to a plumbing issue. Come to find out that during construction the plumber had NOT INSTALLED a trap for the washer at all!

Toilet "bubbles/gurgles" when washing machine drains

I have a toilet that's started bubbling/gurgling when the washing machine drains. Here's the layout: 1. Washing machine is in the basement. It drains into a sump pump that pumps the water up 8' to the main drain line....which goes out to the septic tank. 2. The toilet is up on the main level...

    Sewer smell in toilet bowl

There is no smell coming from the shower drain or sink next to the toilet. The septic tank has been pumped and line checked. I got up...

Problem with urinal flush valve rebuild

I just rebuilt 4 Sloan Urinal Flush Valves and having a problem with one of them. Below is a link to a 30 second You Tube video that will show the problem. Every time I turn on the water, the pressure pushes the flush valve away from the supply valve. If I leave the water turned on, it starts...

    Leaking shower valve

For removing the cartridge, the plastic obviously just pulls off, BUT no amount of muscle that I put into pulling the cartridge out works. I pulled it out a number of years ago and cleaned, but it just won't budge. It turns fine to adjust the water temp.

    Leaking shower valve

I have a shower valve (see pic) that was installed about 15 years ago and is now has a slow leak (about one drop every couple of minutes). Also I removed and cleaned the cartridge about 6 years ago, but now it won't even think about budging to come out. I do not remember the brand of the valve...

    Sewage pump problem

I just purchased a house 2 weeks ago and the sewage pump that is for the basement bathroom has stopped working: 1. It's a 1/3 hp Stevens model S7000 (can't find that this is made anymore) 2. The lift is 11 feet 3. The 2" pipe out of the pump has a check valve installed 4. The pump turns on for...

Toilet smells after rain during summertime

Yes, the water level is high enough in the bowl. The toilet is used every day, so drying out is not a possibility. The strange thing is it's just when it rains during the Summer. I'm in Atlanta, so Summer rain comes with very high and heavy humidity. Could this be a factor?

Toilet smells after rain during summertime

After a heavy rain during the summertime, I have a basement toilet that emits a strong sewage smell. I've tried everything I know and can't figure it out. Here are details: 1. Basement bath has it's own small septic tank separate from rest of house (upstairs). 2. Smell only happens after a...

    Sewage smell coming from toilet

I have a basement bath (shower, sink & toilet) that drains into a secondary small septic tank. Recently, we began getting a sewage smell from the toilet bowl and cannot figure out the problem. Here's what I've tried: 1. To make sure the smell was coming from inside the bowl, I covered the...

How to install septic tank riser

I have a small 500 gal septic tank that is fed from only a seldom used basement guest bath, but now needing to be pumped. Last time it was pumped was 25 years ago and, since then, a sidewalk has been poured over about 1/2 of the tank (oops!). Is there a way to install a riser to the other 1/2 of...
