I’m replacing an American Standard “ vent away “ toilet this morning.

Haven’t seen one in a while.

A goofy idea, just flush your poop as soon as it is dropped, then flush again after wiping.
And turn on the bath fan BEFORE creating your stench cloud.

This lady demanded a Kohler Highline Curve for $199 from Lowe’s

And that’s what she’s getting. Too bad the toilet can’t flush itself 🤣. POS

What makes a large chain decide on which toilets to install? Is it overall costs? Lower maintenance costs? Water savings offered?

This isn't a large chain. Actually one of the local multimillioniare's has several hotels, golf course, casino etc. He has a guy that is "head of maintenance". He asked my boss what he wanted to buy that would fit, this being a remodel where they decided to leave a lot of the plumbing. My boss is trusted to make an economical decision.

Other situations architect would decide based on the needs of the facility, ease of maintenance etc.

another plumber said it couldn’t be repaired. $2,000 to replace it all.

What he meant to say is he doesn’t want to repair it or doesn’t know how.

2hrs labor and a few parts and I have it working like new.

Is that Saniflo?

That cover can be a total beast to get back on.
The design of the gasket is the problem.

I finally learned how to just make my own gasket with self stick foam weather stripping.

Yes, it’s a saniflo. This gasket went right back together.

Some of those white rubber fittings get cracked and rotted.
And Saniflo is pretty high on parts, sometimes you can make do with off the shelf if you can tolerate black, or just paint them.

Any Amazon stuff, and actually most online orders, I usually have the customer order it and have it shipped to them.
On their credit card, not mine.

If I order it, any problems fall to me, for returns or exchanges or not what they expected etc.

All a NO WIN NO PAY situation, no thanks.
