Adding A Platform Under A Toilet

Good point. They want to make a platform for 2 reasons. 1) It will be cheaper. 2) If the height ends up not being quite right, he can make another box. This isn't my rodeo, I am just one of the clowns.:p

Adding A Platform Under A Toilet

There is a reason people say a picture is worth a thousand words. I will definitely post pics when I remove the toilet. We are doing a test with a platform we built. It looks like the right height will be about 21 or 22 inches, so the platform will be between 2 and a half and 3 and a half inches.

Adding A Platform Under A Toilet

I think what is underneath the toilet is a cast iron pipe. I don't know what type of flange is under the toilet. Forgive me for not understanding what you mean when you say "Cut the existing flange off well below the existing fitting and extend..." Are you saying that I need to remove the...

    Raising A Toilet

With the Bemis brand raised seat, the seat height is already at 19 inches, which is not high enough. A taller toilet with the Bemis seat would get it high enough, but I want to put a bidet seat, so that puts us back at square one. I just found out that a lift seat is available. Does anyone have...

    Raising A Toilet

The existing toilet has a bowl height of 16 and a half inches. If I reuse the Bemis brand raised toilet seat with that new toilet, that would work, but I was thinking about putting her a bidet seat. If I put a bidet seat, we are back to the height it is now.

    Raising A Toilet

As for how much higher I need to go, I am not sure yet. I am going to raise a wooden chair to different height to determine that. My guess is about 3 inches or a little bit less. I put that toilet in years ago, and if I remember correctly, the connection was cast iron.

    Raising A Toilet

I need to raise a toilet for my Mom. It already has a raised seat that brings it up an additional 3 inches but that is not high enough. If needed, I could build the little platform to raise it if there aren't platforms that are made for that. But I have no idea if it is possible (or how to, if...

    Hose For Turkey Fryer

I need a new regulator and hose. My old regulator is a model RJ-A and the hose is a Wanan ULL0251 5/16" 1PSIG Max W.P. MH45932 2Q/13. The exterior of the nut on the end of the hose that connects to the fryer is 1/2" and the part on the turkey where the nut goes on is 3/8." Could anyone please...

    Thank You

I recently installed a clean out. The house was built in the early 70's, and I guess they were not required back then. Anyway, thanks to the help I received here, I was able to put it in without a problem. Thanks again, much appreciated.

    Sliding On A Clamp

I only saw 2 or 3 episodes. They used to show the reruns early in the morning, usually while I am sleeping. I saw a few during sleepless nights. He was great in Born Yesterday, and the one where he was a corrupt politician in All The King's Men. That was supposedly based on one of our governors...

    Sliding On A Clamp

I have an idea. The O.D. of my pipe is 4.5. Schedule 40 5 inch pipe has an I.D. of 5.016. I will cut a small piece of 5 inch pipe, slide it in place over my pipe, place my clean out and clamp in place, and slide the 5 inch piece back and forth, bumping the rubber piece into place, if the...

    Sliding On A Clamp

If the roles were reversed, I know that I would ask if you had slid the metal plate out of the way, yes I did. But I had not done like Havasu mentioned, and let the sun warm it up.

    Sliding On A Clamp

I think I will go that route. First I will try with just water, and use detergent if necessary.

    Sliding On A Clamp

I did a dry run with that. The rubber was way too stiff to fold it back.

    Sliding On A Clamp

Yes I do. Thank you very much.

    Sliding On A Clamp

Please forgive the novice question, but what is a pipe stop?

    Sliding On A Clamp

For the sewer clean out that I need to put in, I put the collar on a 4 inch pipe to test it, and even with clamps loosened all the way, it was very hard to slide the rubber part on to the pipe. When I put the clean out in place I will have to slide the rubber part halfway off the short piece of...

    Shifting Soil and Pipes

We have hard, clumpy clay soil. When we have a drought many pipes break, mostly water pipes. I am about to install a clean out and am wondering if it would be a good idea when I fill the hole, to put sand around the pipe so it can have some give? Could there be any negatives from doing that?

    Installing A Clean Out

I have 2 of the clamps like the one I posted, they are $25 a piece. If that is what I need, great, but if the one from Home Depot will work just as well I will go with that if you guys think it will work.
