my Son says not to because if I get a leaking wax ring the water will be trapped under the toilet. It seams to me that if I don't caulk I'll get junk under the edge of the toilet where it meets the floor, plus it would look nicer if it's caulked.
I'm also replacing my toilet and looking at home Depot I see that their toilets start at $99 and go to about $400. is their really a difference in performance, etc.?
Just thinking, What if you due fix it and the area around the fix doesn’t look as good as the area around it (lumpy drywall, ect). Then you move a couple years later and the landlord withholds part of your security because he had to hire someone to make the repaired area look good.
Your landlord is responsible to have it fixed. I would text him about the problem (so you have proof) then wait a couple of days then like breplum said, I’d hire a plumber then deduct it from the rent. That will save you a lot of trouble.

i will, but haven't got that far yet. saw a couple of u-tube videos where they say not to put a moisture barrier behind the hardiboard where it can breath so mold can't start.
I’m rebuilding my shower stall. I was going to put 40 lb felt on the wall then Hardiboard on top of that and seal it with “redguard”. Well I got a little carried away. I put up the Hardiboard ,but forgot to put my 40 lb felt behind it. Now I’m wondering if I should remove the Hardiboard and...
a friend of my son says i should use that expanded metal and form it exactly to the shape of the bench then embed it in mortar that i run up the vertical and across the seat, so it's almost like having a concrete seat
I just had my shower stall “hot moped”. Just wondering how well thinset sticks to the vertical tarred areas. I have a built in seat in the shower that has been also hot moped and wondering if I need to attach hardiboard to it or can I thinset over the tar and attach my tile. I’ve hardiboarded...
