I have never seen one of these shower valves before. I’m trying to find a new cartridge for it. Retired plumber at the hardware store thought it might be a Posi-Temp but I’m not sure. Any thoughts on what it is and how to remove it? I can’t get the escutcheon off due to that metal disk in front that interacts with the stop.

It’s moen. The brass piece that the handle goes on is corroded right to the stem of the cartridge. I’ve had some awful fights getting those off. Best of luck.

And it’s posi-temp. 1222B.

If you need a replacement end piece, luckily they have moved away from brass and have been using plastic

You are absolutely right Matt30! I resorted to breaking the stop tube (which was just pressed together at the bottom anyway) to get at the clip and then pulling the whole thing out. I need a new escutcheon and handle anyway. But thanks for the help!

You’re welcome. Contact moen with pictures and they should send you replacement parts under warranty
