Every time my water heater tries to turn on, I hear clicking, like a relay only it clicks many times before the heater comes on. Used to be just a few times, but within the last month it's clicking more like 30 times before it starts the heater. ????

Is the heater a power vent.
Power vent heaters do not have a standing pilot. The noise you are hearing is the ignitor sparking.
