Tub spout diverter has finally died (type you pull down from under the spout to engage). It is fine with me as it is a cheap plastic builders special that is over 13 years old and no longer matches anyway.

I had installed a Moentrol valve and handle several years ago (matches sink), but we did not replace spout.

I can still buy a Moen spout that will match the shower handle and sink faucet. Problem is, the connection options are IPS (front threaded) or CC while the old spout connection is 3/4" adjustable/telescoping. There is an adapter on the 1/2" copper pipe that was soldered.

No matter what, I'm going to have to remove the existing adapter. I have the capability and experience to remove it.

What I want to know is:

A) How well do the CC type attachments work?

B) If they do not work as well as IPS, when I pull off the old adapter, is there an IPS one I can solder on to the copper pipe or am I going to have to replace the pipe further back in the wall?
