Shower drain

Getting ready to plumb in my shower and was wondering which drain everyone prefers? It is a 34x60 fiberglass pan with a center drain. There are several options, should I use a "no caulk" or "caulk" style? Brass, plastic... Thanks in advance for your opinion...

There's a few different styles. Personally I prefer the 2 piece PVC or ABS ones that take the outlet pipe right into the body with PVC or ABS cement. The body acts as your lock nut, I don't like the ones with the big 4" hex nut on the under side. I also prefer putty, not silicone.
