the shower diverter (my pals at American No-Standards) in our shower has failed.
I have the new part.
But I have been unable to remove the old. The piece with the thread is stuck in the spout. It's cheap plastic but I can't unscrew or crack it, thus far, without the risk of the spout itself.
And the cap on the stem won't unscrew either. Tried holding the stem with a pliers, WD40, blah, blah, blah.
Anyone have an idea for loosening ether or both, that is not likely to ruin the spout?
