Just bought recently renovated house, only to have immediate water damage from 18-inch crack along ~65 year old cast iron pipe. Plumber cut out damaged section with reciprocating saw and installed PVC with clean-out port. Two questions:
1) Has anyone seen further problems from vibration caused by reciprocating saws?
2) Would anyone else have added support for old pipes, or do the connections between the CI and PVC provide adequate support to minimalize further stress on old pipes? Original metal support bands anchored to wooden joists are visible.
