I installed a Fernco adapter when I replaced the T connector leading up to the toilet flange.

Before I clamped it on the grey PVC, I smeared some GE premium waterproof silicone (for kitchen/bath/plumbing) on the inside of the Fernco adapter.

Is this OK?--or did I compromise the seal between the two pieces? The seal seems good but I don't want to reassemble the floor until I hear back.

thanks!

The silicone will not hurt the plastic pipe or the Fernco coupling.

That said, the sanitary tee that you installed is not meant to be used in that orientation, and you would be much better off using a shielded coupling.

Thanks--I'll look into the shielded coupling. I was just replacing what was there

As far as the gray PVC goes, the house was built 40 years ago, and if I was to list all the off-code stuff I've found when opening walls I'd be here all day. Sigh

Thanks for the help
