Hi Guys,

New to the forums. Was hoping someone could give me some advice on how to properly remove the widespread faucet included in the image links below. Where I am stuck is at the removal of the faucet handles to access the stems. I have the flat-head screw loose but am unsure if I should be removing just the "ball" portion at the top or the entire "pear shaped" handle assembly covering the stem at this point.

Thanks in advance!

Greatly appreciate your input. I should have been more specific in my original post. I understand both need to be removed. The ball portion is separate and is responsible for the handles opening and shutting the water supply to the faucet. I am just unsure if I should be pulling or twisting to remove the top portion once the screw is loose. Dealing with quite a bit of resistance and cant seem to get it out. I feel as if it should pull straight up to expose the stem portion encased within the lower handle portion.

It definitely drops through the base. I wish this was a first time install! I have one side removed at this point. Both were seized but the one side is completely seized. It is coming out one way or another lol. New widespread to go in its place so don't care what it looks like when it comes out. Just for reference though if anyone runs into a similar issue, once the the screw is loose, the top "ball" portion is supposed to slip up off of the stem.
