I would like to buy a bidet sprayer with a T-adapter. However, I am not sure which type to choose in terms of the dimensions because they are confusing.

This is the information I have from the pipe tag I have: 3/8" COMP TO 7/8" TOILET. Does that mean 3/8" from the floor and 7/8" to the bidet? What about to the sprayer. I would really appreciate an explanation and whether Home Depot would be cheaper than ordering from Amazon.

Thanks,

Thanks,

I assume you are talking about the line that runs from your shutoff valve to the toilet. That line has a 3/8" compression fitting that attaches to the shutoff and a 7/8" Toilet fitting that attaches to the toilet. That is pretty standard.

The T for the bidet spray would normally attach between your line and the toilet tank. You unscrew the line from the bottom of the toilet tank, screw the T on, and screw the line to the bottom of the T. The line to the bidet hose then comes out of the side of the T. The T must therefore have a female 7/8" Toilet fitting at the top and a male 7/8" Toilet fitting at the bottom. It may be labeled as a 15/16" NPS fitting - it is the same thing.

The bidet spray hose then attaches to the side of the T. On mine, this requires a 1/2" FIP to attach to the T, and a 3/8" compression to attach to the sprayer - I think that's pretty standard, but you need to get whatever your sprayer requires.

Thanks for the info, donald. I was wondering about the same thing. The 15/16 = 7/8 helps a lot.

Luissuarez, the price you get on a bidet sprayer depends on which one you get. I just searched both Amazon and HD and found that Amazon had a better selection and lower prices.

Another term for the bidet sprayer is "shattaf" or "diaper sprayer". Use those as keywords when searching on amazon or other sites (although they won't work on HomeDepot- I just checked). You will want to get the sprayer, the hose, the t-connector, and possibly a wall-mount for the sprayer. There are some sets that come with all of those. Some just come with sprayer, hose, and mount.

This comes with the sprayer, hose, and mount: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00S9B4EJ0/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20

But if you click on one of the options, it seems to come with the sprayer, hose, mount, and T for $27.80. Direct link https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00S9B4GFW/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KWSUO7O/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 is $29.99 for the full set.

I'm not sure if that is the style you want though. Looks like prices have gone down since I was shopping for them. They were over $40 for the whole sets when I was looking. The t-connectors alone were over $13.

I hope this helps.

This is really useful. It is true that the prices were around $40. This is what made me decide to go to HomeDepot and buy from there. However, since prices went down, I will buy the full set from the last two links you provided.

But I have to know first if it is going to fit with the size of the shutoff and bidet I have. Any thoughts about the sizes?

I'm not sure what sizes you mean? Do you mean the size of the hose to attach to the sprayer?

From what I understand, the fitting on the supply line coming directly out of the floor or wall (whichever style you have) is generally 3/8". The initial supply hose has two female ends (one 3/8" and the other 7/8" to 1/2").

The toilet and bidet lines are usually 7/8". I read somewhere that the difference between the 7/8 and 15/16 is the taper of the threads rather than size, but that they were compatible (although washers/gaskets and teflon tape were recommended).

Are you saying that you already purchased a sprayer? If so, read the specifications and it should tell you what size it requires (keeping in mind that you an use both 15/16 and 7/8 interchangeably). Some sprayers are 7/8 while others are 1/2. If you have a 1/2 sprayer, you can buy a little plastic adapter that would be 7/8" Male to 1/2" Female. You would twist it on to the bidet sprayer and then twist the hose on to the adapter. Some adapters even come with little sediment filters.

You might want to check a local store for the adapters though.

The order of connection goes:
*Supply line shutoff 3/8
*Supply hose F 3/8 to F 7/8 (sometimes called 15/16) or M 1/2
*T-adapter M 7/8 attaching to the supply line on the bottom
*Side M 7/8 to attach hose for sprayer
*Hose F 7/8 (15/16) on both ends or 1/2
*Top of T-adapter hooks to toilet which is M 7/8 or M 1/2

If you order one of the kits, the sprayer should probably be the right size for the hose (7/8 / 15/16).

If you aren't certain about the size of your sprayer's threaded end and can't find it in the specs, take it with you to HD and go to the plumbing section to find the shower/toilet supply line hoses and see which ones fit.

I hope this helps.

Where would a vacuum breaker go? And I thought that was for drains, not water supplies. (But I could easily be wrong).

Or was that meant for the thread about the plumbing under the sink where the dishwasher discharge didn't have a vacuum breaker? (http://www.plumbingforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9468&goto=newpost)

I'm cornfuzzled now. LOL.

Edit: I just looked it up and from what I understand the purpose is to prevent the hose from having water flow back up into the water supply. All the diagrams and stuff I've seen have never mentioned the need for one for a bidet or handheld showerhead, but I have never specifically looked for it before.

If it is necessary, would it be something like this: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Delta-Vacuum-Breaker-in-Chrome-U4900-PK/203125019 that had adapters to go from 7/8 to 1/2 (since 7/8" vacuum breakers don't seem to be available)? Would it go at the base of the sprayer or at the bottom of the sprayer's hose where it attaches to the T?

So if the sprayer does not have the built in vacuum break, it would be something like this?
tumblr_oaf8337g271qhfuqwo2_r1_540.png

Although, if the sprayer takes a 7/8" instead of 1/2" it would need a small adapter to convert from male 1/2" to female 7/8" right?

Sorry if I'm getting things mixed up.

To clarify, the vacuum break should be built in to the sprayer wand? (or is only on specific ones on that page)?
