Bent symmons spindle

So in the middle of a shower temptrol repair for my parents, it's been leaking for a while and I'm just able to get to it now but I noticed the TA-10 spindle is a bit bent out of square and was wondering if that's the main cause of the leaking. I see no other possibilities but would love feedback thanks

It's possible if they really forced it off, but most of that stem stays in the body,how bad is the washer on the end, you may want to look inside the body to see if the hot seat is nicked
