    Powered anode rod worth it?

I did not know that nor is that what I would have expected! Thanks for that.

    Powered anode rod worth it?

Ahhhh, it does my heart good to see another arithmetic geek using numbers to make a case!! I didn't consider the price of rods increasing over the years but that would make the money number case for a powered anode even stronger as the replacement cost of metal rods increases. I also get that...

    Powered anode rod worth it?

Just wondering if anyone has switched their anode rod to the powered type? I see A.O. Smith is including them in some heaters and selling them as an accessory as well so they must work, right? Another one I saw comes with a 20 year warranty, with all fine print considered, and that led me to go...

Navien ncb-210 combi boiler air release

This is the entire pump. The part leaking for me is the brass air vent (right side of pic but is upright when installed). Once I figure out the upload video thing I'll try to send a video I have of it leaking.

Navien ncb-210 combi boiler air release

Sorry. Posted this over at the General Plumbing Discussion before seeing this more specific forum. After reading the instructions from Navien, which state to open the air valve cap (the one on the internal circulation pump for this 2015 build) before filling the unit with water, the cap came...

Navien ncb-210 combi boiler air release

After reading the instructions from Navien, which state to open the air valve cap (the one on the internal circulation pump for this 2015 build) before filling the unit with water, the cap came off as I was opening it and a whole bunch (about 10-12) of little washers came out of it. Most of them...

    Combi boiler recommendations

Hi. Hope everyone is doing well. I was wondering, now that combi boilers have been out for quite some time, if there are any recommendations for reliable models and just overall best models? My mom's home is water heated and natural gas is available. She currently has a Navian something or...

    Patina on copper pipes

I had a pretty serious long term leak happen at our kitchen sink drain which ran down into the finished wall in the basement where I have a rough-in kitchen. After removing all insulation, drywall and existing mold, I was told to leave it exposed and test for leaks around a window on that wall...

Drain pipe stub too low for new vanity

What's the best way to raise that tee on the vertical drain, ferncos? Cutting the vanity is an issue, for now, as the drain pipe is being stopped by the bottom of the vanity cabinet which is where the support for the carcass of the cabinet is. There is a cut-out in the bottom of the vanity but I...

Drain pipe stub too low for new vanity

Thanks Duckbutter. The main issue I have is that the lav drain is not installed 18" off the floor. Close but not quite 17" to center. Also, yes, new vanities are higher and don't take into account older lav drain heights. Ah, the joys of living in an older home...

Drain pipe stub too low for new vanity

The vanity that is meant to fit in front of this plumbing (see pic) is a tall model with an open bottom cut out so one can put baskets, towels etc. under there. That means that the the bottom of the cabinet is about a foot to a foot and a half above the floor. The drain pipe in the photo rubs up...

    Bathroom faucet supply lines

The pic/link is showing something different from the hoses, unless I'm missing something?

    Bathroom faucet supply lines

Thanks for the suggestion Twowaxhack, but I don't know how those things would work with braided stainless steel supply lines. I had it in mind to use a shorter length of braided line (3/8" male to 3/8" female) but don't like the idea of adding another potential leak point.

    Bathroom faucet supply lines

I'm moving a vanity/faucet and the supply lines are a bit short for the new location (short in reference to where supply stubs are plumbed in new location, for some reason). I thought it would be simpler to buy new supply lines but apparently I have a European-made faucet and the supply lines...

    copper pipes have green patina

I just realized I wasn't very clear. The drain pipe was ABS (black plastic) and it split from what seemed like a lot of pressure from a poor installation. The copper I was referring to are supply lines for a basement kitchen rough-in that happens to be directly below the kitchen upstairs...

    copper pipes have green patina

Hi. Hope everyone is well and safe. I had a leak in a finished basement wall (from upstairs kitchen drain pipe) and the copper pipe in that wall has turned green where it was in contact with the water/soaked insulation. Should this pipe be replaced? Thanks
