    Bar plumbing

Michigan is no more than 140 degrees untempered. Anything requiring tempering, (tub/shower valves, whirlpools, public hand sinks) are to be less than 120. I just plumbed a commercial kitchen and didn't use tempering valves at the hand sinks. It passed the plumbing and health department...

    shower valve ID?

Is funny how I run into 40 year old faucets that might need new washers every 10 years, yet most faucets you install today are junk in 5. People don't stick with what works anymore. They remodel every decade, and styles change I guess.

    shower valve ID?

The box touts how durable the valve is, yet it's like $79 with trim included. Junk. I usually recommend Delta because they are reliable and parts are everywhere. Now I need to make sure to tell people to avoid this particular valve. Assembled, it doesn't even feel solid. Very weak and...

    shower valve ID?

It's a Delta valve alright. One I've never heard of.

    shower valve ID?

Thanks for the help. The builder who did the work around 4 months ago said he got it at the home Depot. The homeowner picked up another valve to swap the cartridge with and he says it says Delta on the box. The trim on the valve was Delta, but I've never seen that cartridge in a Delta...

    Replacing laundry tub

Tommac, you're in my area? What inspector in Roseville? The old guy Don Franklin can be pretty picky.

    What toilet do I get?

In my experience most toilets with a 3" flush valve work great. Even the 1.28 gallon ones.

    Sanitary line bedding/base???? Help!

It also doesn't need 1/4" per foot. 1/8" is fine for that size pipe.

What's the weather like where you are?

26 degrees. I'm ready for spring.

    Replacing laundry tub

Code only specifies laundry facilities required in one and two family dwellings. So I guess boiler drains for a washing machine and a faucetless tub could pass code.

Roots in sewer pipe to main, Hydro-jet??

Interesting for sure. What does jetting cost, and what the price of a machine for typical 4" house sewers?

Roots in sewer pipe to main, Hydro-jet??

I disagree on jetting for roots as well. I'm sure Mr. Rooter charges a pretty penny for it though. I'd cut a cleanout in further downstream so you can clean the whole line. Use a regular snake to clean the line and see how long it takes for the roots to return. just about every old sewer in the...

Bathroom sink drain will be the death of me...

Yeah, not a good idea to open one on a used heater. It's only like ten bucks and a few minutes to replace though.

    Replacing laundry tub

If it's in a tub. I believe stand pipes are supposed to be 2 inch. In this case, the tub can act as a reservoir. I just worked on a house that had 1 1/2 galvanized coming out of the slab being used for a stand pipe. that's asking for a flood.

Bathroom sink drain will be the death of me...

Did you manually open the t&p valve?

    Replacing laundry tub

The stand pipe off the tailpiece is allowed in Michigan although rarely done. At least when it's done this way the tub will fill with water if the line starts backing up instead of quickly overflowing from the stand pipe.

ceiling leaking from light fixture due to overflow

Drain cleaners really don't work very often. If they do work at all they tend to open up a small hole in the clog. The water drains, you think your fine, but the line clogs again in a short time.
