    Rain water entering basement

I’m the last house on a downhill street and since they repaved the street, I get water into the corner of my basement, sometimes actually flowing. I know I need a sump pump, but inside, after the water has already entered my house or right out side? Outside would mean I’m pumping the whole...

    Strange hot water valve problem?

If it is with the same valve, I.e. the bathroom sink, sometimes the washer is loose and sticks to the seat for a few seconds until the pressure pops it open. Just a thought.

    Price/Pfister faucet problem

Funny story about price Pfister faucets. When I was about 25 years old, I started working in the plumbing supply store. We sold price Pfister faucets and parts. I said price Pfister? whoever heard of that? I’ve heard of Gerber, I’ve heard of Sterling, I’ve heard of American Standard. Well...

Replace or adjust this toilet tank assembly?

Just a side point .... I miss a tank where I can use a fluidmaster. I’ve always used them since I found out about them in a plumbing supply I used to work in in Brooklyn back in the ‘70’s. The tank I have now has a contraption that can’t be replaced with a fluidmaster. There ! My gripe is over

Toilet on a platform above a flush up toilet. Tile is starting to crack and give way. The pictures above are what I found, then with new framing and dura-rock cement board, and then finished job.

    Water softener

Good idea. So far, it’s been 2 days and I cannot tell the difference. But maybe there’s still “old” water left in the pipes.

    Water softener

ok, after 35 years of getting our water from the New York City Aquaduct, my town is now supplying water from a newly dug well and we were advised to get a water softener. So how do I proceed? So many types of softeners and differences in hardness. Where do I begin? Thank you.

    Drain/flush water heater

Is it “better late than never” to flush sediment etc. out of a water heater. It’s been 9 years. Should I just forget about it now? And yes.... I am a major procrastinator.

    Brass risers....

Anybody on here old enough to remember using 3/8” brass pipe as basin risers along with plumbing wick? I mean when there were no other options.
