I think that's what it's called. Every time my well pump cycles off I hear a thud from inside the wall nearby. I'm guessing a clamp on the pex line came loose and is allowing the line the flex when pressure changes.

Is this something that will eventually result in a leak? The noise doesn't bother me so if no further damage will be caused I'm inclined to leave it alone.

If it's only when th pump cycles, I would be looking for a check valve, you don't normally get water hammer noises out of pex.
 
It's only when pump turns off. I have brass fittings so maybe that is what's causing the noise.
