Hi all -

Our toilet has got very difficult to flush. A couple of very quick goes on the handle will do it sometimes, but not others!

So we are considering replacing the innards ourselves. I suppose the first question is: is that sensible? ;)

Assuming it is, we have looked on various online marketplaces and are rather confused as to what we should be getting. We have found items that look similar on Amazon (such as https://www.amazon.co.uk/Toilet-Syphon-Macdee-Cistern-DSY7225/dp/B008ABETNA/ or https://www.amazon.co.uk/Toilet-Syphon-Cistern-DSY9238-Approved/dp/B008ABETEY/) but they say10.5", 9.5", 7.5" etc. What is that measurement - from the bottom of the inside of the cistern to the top of the existing syphon? That measurement seems to be 11.5" on the current one. Would buying (for example) a smaller 10.5" one cause a problem?

Any help, pointers or links to guides would be highly appreciated!

Cheers - Jon

Well not London, but certainly in the UK!

I apologise if this is a US/Canada specific forum - I know your plumbing is different :)

Let me know if so and I will see if I can find a UK one.

Well the way if find exact part for a toilet is to open the tank, there should be numbers stamped in the porcelain or printed in black
You also need to know what brand the toilet is that should be printed behind the seat
