I left a pressure meter on a residential outside hose bib downstream from the regulator for about 24 hours, and as you can see at some point during the 24 hours the pressure hit 109 psi then returned to around 56. Is that big jump normal? Thank you!IMG_2397.jpg

Did you wash clothes, Ice maker fill up and cut off ?

Anything with a quick closing valve can cause a water hammer spike that can skew the test.

If you don't have an expansion tank your water heater can cause the pressure to rise like that.

I'd leave the gauge on for a day check it during the day, do some laundry ,check it then, and if you have an irrigation system cycle that on and off while watching it ,like twowaxhack mention these have electric valves that open and close quickly

Regardless of what you find with further testing, you have a situation that might find a weak spot in your water system eventually. You either don't have an expansion tank or if you do it's not working properly. If you do have one shut off and bleed the system, and check the air preload, it might be waterlogged.

Thank you all. This is after a complete re-pipe done within the last year.
