My fridge broke so I unplugged it and disconnected it from the water line. Also turned off valve from where water line is connected to basement water heater.

Due to a delay in delivery I placed the water line in a bucket just in case there was any dripping. 24 hours later the entire bucket was nearly full of water. Thankfully no overflow.

Is this as simple as just capping the line to prevent water from coming out? Or is there potentially an issue with valve that I should look into? Not much water is coming out anymore since. Very slow drip at most.

Images show line and then connection in basement before I disconnected from fridge and turned off valve.

The ballvalve must not be holding 100%. You could replace it.

How long is your supply line to the fridge? How big was the bucket? Are you sure the water was not just water draining from the line?

Also, your draft hood is off center. It looks like you need to modify the vent pipe slightly.
