My water comes from the ground with a well pump. I want to add a water filter for the purpose of keeping the sediment from clogging my aerators in my faucets. What filter system should I buy?

This Water Source Well System Sediment Filter is used in water well applications to reduce sediment in-line for sprinkler systems and whole house systems. It also helps make pumps, well tanks, sprinkler heads, and all plumbing fixtures last longer. This filter includes a 100 mesh stainless steel screen.

    • Ideal for pre-filtration where well pumps are used
    • Filters out sand and other sediment from well or irrigation pump applications
    • Protects plumbing fixtures, washing machines, pressure tanks, small and large sprinkler heads
    • Sediment is visible through clear bowl, making it easy to know when to flush
    • Replacement filter screens are not available in store
    • Please contact manufacturer for replacement filter screens (sizes ranging from 30 mesh to 500 mesh)
    • This does not replace the need for a whole home filtration system
    • Fits 1 in. and 1-1/2 in. pipe

That would work just as good. You can buy filters for taste, odor and sediment.

I only need to prevent the sediment from clogging things in my house. What micron rating should I go with? I'm seeing 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000.

Where's the best place to install these filters? Before the pressure tank or after?

A grain of sand is anywhere from 75 to 150 microns, so a 50 micron water filter should be good enough to handle your sediment issue.
