Hello: I have had a problem for years with water running down my vent stack when the weather turns cold. It actually will stop after the weather turns completely cold, but the transition months are the worst. I had my stack replaced, that did not help. Added insulation, that did not help. What is more strange is when I run furnace fan 24/7, it never happens. I live in Wisconsin, so late fall is when it starts, can cause a good puddle on the floor in my basement. I sent someone up into the attic one time and there was no evidence of any leaks around the vent stack, no evidence of any time the insulation got wet, etc.

Any ideas? Local plumber gave up.

where is your air conditioner ?

the drain from the unit might be plumbed into your vent.

also check your dryer vent, some dingalings tie the dryr vent into a sewer vent to avoid a roof penitration

really dumb idea, but,,well,

why is te water from the vent getting on the floor in the basement ?

open pipe ?
