I just wanted to know for a centrifugal water pump what is better. The VFD controlling the pump is designed for constant torque.

Constant torque is only needed for machine tools and things like that where a VFD has the potential of actually being useful. Constant torque is not needed for centrifugal pumps, but neither is a VFD unless you just like spending extra money.

The VFD Drive on our system is constant torque drive. Apparently it is the wrong type of drive for our application.
