I have an investment property I bought this winter. In the boiler room there is a bad draft and many (5 or more) of the copper pipes solder joints "broke loose”. Fortunately the water was off. I replaced all the copper and fittings.
Once I got those leaks fixed I found a leak in what I believe to be the valve strainer. The back plate is cracked open and water is gushing out.
Can I replace just the back plate or will I need a new Valve strainer? Could there be other breaks inside the boiler itself?
It is a Mcdonnell-Miller 47-2.
PICS to follow
Thanks
