Hey All, first time posting. I just replaced my electric water heater and installed the thermal expansion tank with a pressure gauge inline. However the gauge is reading zero which is weird to me. Am I missing something here?

Thanks!

If the water is on then you have a defective gauge
That is what I was thinking, however I was also curious if having the expansion tank located after the T connection that it wouldn't function as needed should the pressure in the water heater ever increase. If I replaced the pressure gauge, do i need to fully drain the tank again?

Tank is fine where it's at. To replace the gauge just need to turn off power, shut of cold water supply, open a hot faucet, get a towel/bowl, swap it out.
