The Urinal auger

I took it upon myself to order the shop some urinal augers. Our 'lead' plumber advised me that I had wasted time and money on these 'garbage pieces.' Sure enough it got stuck in a urinal the first time out!!! Not good. What I'm wondering is that are they a piece of junk? Or is it me and there's a trick to not getting them stuck? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Miigwetch L

The trick is don't use them, we tend to acid wash the urinals, then snake and jet the lines, tends to clear them right up.
