Tank Replace Question

I have a toilet with a tank that has a 3 inch flapper valve, I am replacing the tank and wondering do I have to buy a tank with a 3 inch flapper or can I get one with a 2 inch?

You first need to make sure the tank is compatible for the bowl.

A compatible tank will match the engineering of the flush fluid design, so it will remain 3" flapper. Totally impaired flush if smaller flapper were used.
