Hi gang, I tried getting an answer in a different forum with limited results. Is anyone familiar with this type of PexAlPex?
It's made by Aqua therm (see pics), it's bendable and holds its shape (as in the pics)?
I am interested in what type of fittings I need for it and do I have to ream or bevel the connections.

Thanks:confused:

You asked about this in another thread you previously started and got some answers. Look there.

hey gang its my first post here in your forum and I have to say I love this forum! Very helpful.
So here's my question. I bought a couple coils on Craigslist of this black Pal alPex made by from aquitherm. It's rated at 200 degrees and I think 200 psi. it's definitely a PEX alpex product. But when i did some searching online to make sure I'm using the right type of fittings I could not find it. when I asked about it at the plumbing supply company in my city, the one that supposedly knows everything, and nobody there had ever heard of it or seen it before in black. Does anybody know anything about this product and which type of fittings I should use ....compression etc? Thanks:rolleyes::confused:

If you read my post you will see I stated that and why I reposted. if you read ALL those you answers you would understand.

Why do you keep asking the same questions and discount the responses? You have a unique product that very few people use. Contact Aqua Therm and they will be the only ones to accurately answer your questions. That should have been your first contact.

I googled it and found a few links
http://www.sunburst-sales.com/PexAlPex.html
http://www.aqua-therm.com/radiant-heating/

It says you can use “manufactured” press fittings for potable water application. It is also used for radiant in-floor heating.

From IPC
http://publicecodes.cyberregs.com/icod/ipc/2009/icod_ipc_2009_6_par087.htm
605.21.1 Mechanical joints. Mechanical joints shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Fittings for PE-AL-PE and PEX-AL-PEX as described in ASTM F 1974, ASTM F 1281, ASTM F 1282, CAN/CSA B137.9 and CAN/CSA B137.10 shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

Not sure if any of that helps.

You're welcome. I also found a site that sells the fittings
http://www.supplyhouse.com/Multipress-MLC-PEX-AL-PEX-Fittings-1533000

I think it requires a special tool though.

Also, I saw a reamer for sale for Pex-Al-Pex, so some applications might need it to be reamed.

I really personally know nothing about the stuff, but it does look neat.

Thanks again Zanne and Matt. I've been out of town for 3 days I just got back. This is the tool I was going to use (beveling).
Is this sufficient or should I go Buy a reaming tool.
happy holidays to all BTW

That is the correct tool for bevelling.

What fittings are you going to use? Was I right thinking they were like the KiTec fittings?

Glad it was helpful. I have no idea on the tools required. It looks like a good product that would stand up to mice and other critters. Probably pretty expensive though.

I've found that some people aren't quite as good at finding things when they google search. There may be so many hits it can be overwhelming. Or there may be conflicting info or not exactly what they are looking for.

He was probably hoping that someone here had used the product and was familiar with it.

Anyway, at least he got his answers and will hopefully be able to make use of the stuff now.
