Hello again Everybody.

My saga-of-the-new-shower continues, but I have made a few command decisions.

In an earlier post, I wrote that the shower I'm replacing is an older one - 30" x 30". Quite cozy! And I don't want to rip out walls, so it'll stay 30x30.

I'm happy to say that I have located a 30x30 shower pan, which is really cool. However, I can't locate a 30x30 enclosure (at least not a good one), which 'forces' me to install tile on the walls and ceiling. This is not a bad thing.

I've never done this job before, so perhaps y'all can guide me through the basics of making my shower waterproof, durable, and attractive.

Let's start at the bottom.

After I remove everything, I'm going to have the shower pan installed by a plumber. What should I look for during the installation? What are the hallmarks of a good and proper job? Does anything go beneath the pan, such as a moisture barrier? Is cement (or mud) always recommended beneath the pan, to minimize cracking, etc?

Any help / tips / advice on this will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
