I don't normally use the term "visciously clogged" often, but in this case...it's an understatement. I don't know what's in there, but it's just gotten worse. Here's the scenario. It's a standalone shower, no tub, and no overflow cap unless it's hidden behind the shower head mount. I am the sole user of the shower, and do not have mounds of hair on me to the point where that would clog it. I used to be able to give it a quick few plunges and the water would drain overnight. One day I tried using a simple drain auger, a zip it tool, and four different types of plungers, and guess what? It won't even drain no matter how long I let it sit. I plunge it 20 times or so every day hoping for something good to happen. Things to note: none of the plungers seem to get a solid seal, so I don't think it's sucking anything out, rather pushing it in further. Like I said, I could plunge no problem, and it would drain eventually. But things changed once I did the auger. Other thing to note: I plunged it the other night with no result, and after I did that, I walked past my laundry room and noticed that the drain in there had standing water and for a few seconds, there were air bubbles. But only for a few seconds, then nothing. I am going to try plunging and the auger in the laundry room drain tomorrow, but if anyone has any good ideas, I am open to suggestions! Thank you!

Welcome to the forum. First things first, where is the house? What type of plumbing? How old is the plumbing? Do you have trees on the property? Are any close neighbors experiencing the same issue? Are all your sinks and toilets stopped up?

Chances are you have a serious stoppage in your main line. It could be a stoppage two feet away, or it could be 200' away. As I have told others countless times, obviously depending where you live, you can call a specialist in and he can take care of the situation for less than a hundred bucks. If it is just one stoppage and no other lines are clogged, you can try a power auger attached to a cordless drill, but be careful, because they can wrap around clothing, hair, arms, and cause a bigger issue, being damage to yourself. Good luck.
