Hello,

Struggling with which way to go here. Redoing a shower which had a lot of issues one being no preslope under the PVC liner. Concrete slab is in good shape and pretty flat, however the shower drain flange is at least 1/2 to 3/4 inch below the slab. If I were to preslope from the walls to the drain at its current level, there is a steep drop right near the drain and I think the angle will be off? Do I cut out and replace the shower drain flange higher with an extension, or do I just do my best to preslope to the flange that is currently lower than the slab?

I’d suggest installing a new drain. I’d never reuse an old drain while installing a new shower.
