Lately I have smelled a sewage odor when standing at or near my double bowl kitchen sink. Left side bowl has a disposal. Right side bowl is plumbed separately - I know this because one time I clogged up the disposal drain with potato peelings and the right side still drained just fine.

I am pretty sure the right side drain has a V-200 air vent underneath there.
Could this have gone bad and be stuck in the open position causing sewer gas to come out of it? The house was built in 1980 to code at the time.

Thanks in advance for your input on this.

very good, I think you figured it out on your own,
remove the old one, put a baggy over the open pipe, rubber band
take the old with you and go get another,
by a small can of pipe dope, rectoseal #5 or what ever is available
put a little on the new threads, it will make screwing it together alot easier
