I had my septic tank pumped today for the first time (have been in this house for just over two years). The contractor said everything was good and this one was the cleanest run one he saw in a long time.

Now, the lid is covered with gravel, so first he had to shovel the gravel around (not my idea - inherited that design) and when seatng lid back he did not take all the gravel from the flange as it was difficult and he sat the cover with gravel remaining there, though the bolts were screwed back in. Then the lid was covered with gravel like it was before. When asked if that was a ptoblem he said no, I would not have any problems due to that.

I decided to ask you guys what you think.

Probably won't have any issue. Most septic lids are not sealed well and almost none have locking bolts. Best idea is to raise it to ground level but then you have an eye sore

Thanks for replying. Just wanted to have a professional second opinion.
