The main drain from my house to the septic tank is located in the garage and is in the area that collects water and road salt from my car. Where the 6" cast iron drain line goes through the poured concrete the hub that is at the floor level has started to corrode and the Y connector above the hub is showing corrosion. I cleaned it last fall and used auto indercoating to try and protect the cast iron from disintegrating. What are my repair alternatives and how thick SHOULD the cast iron be at this point? Can I replace this with plastic and maybe put a protector around the plastic. The drain is in the corner away from the car so I know it will not be contacted by the car.

use tar to coat the pipe,
if it needs replacing, replace it with pvc
if it needs replacing, replace it with pvc
