We want to replace our ahower/tub faucet but am unsure as to how to remove the existing assemble. The tub filler and diverter are impeding the removal of the escutcheon plate. Do I just brut force it off or is there some for of mechanical attacment that I must adress first. Please see attached pictures... thank you in advance for your help!

Tub spout is either screwed on to a pipe nipple or it's a slip on spout.
slip on will have a set screw near the wall on bottom up inside a hole.
takes a screw driver or allen wrench to loosen.
If no screw just turn the spout counterclockwise to remove.
sometime the fitting inside the spout breaks it's bond with the spout and just spins with out coming off the nipple.
next step is to just take a hack saw to the spout and cut it off about an inch behind the diverter pull tab

thanks for the help!!!! problem solved.
What did you do ???
Did you take a big sledge hammer, bash the thing to oblivion and then call a plumber to put it all back together?
