I am replaciing a wall hung Glenwall toilet with a Yorkville floor mounted rear discharge toilet. The Glenwall was attached to a carrier in the wall and discharged out the back through a 4" threaded nipple in the the carrier. The Yorkville needs a closed flange. I am trying to make the transition to the 4" in the carrier in the least space so I don't have to build the wall out further than it was (@2") I was wondering how the Quickset closet flange sealed and if it could be used over the 4" threaded nipple? The literature only mentions cast iron and PVC nipples. Can anyone tell me if this would work. I'd prefer to keep the existing nipple because I don't have a 36" pipe wrench to remove it but if the external threads were a problem for the quickset flange it could be changed to a nipple with threads on only one end.
