Mr_David Easily Amused Professional Joined Jan 11, 2010 Messages 4,170 Reaction score 1,061 Location Santee,Ca, Dec 26, 2016 #4 the press does deform the copper a bit but the if the solder joint is good and solid then you can probably get pretty close. it's that joint that has been just barely hanging on that could be the trouble maker.

Dec 26, 2016 #6 I have removed the oring from a propress coupling. soldered one end on a pipe, cooled it replaced oring and pressed the other end
