Preforated pipe

New here. I was installing a French drain and noticed. I have been curious about this. I have noticed some perforated pipe has holes located a 5 and 7 o'clock postion and others at 5, 6 and 7 o'clock postion. Is there specific use for each type or are they basically the same?

I kind of figured so. So I assuming the pipe is installed the same. It just looked odd to see holes directly at the bottom. I guess it's ok for a French drain but what about a sewer lateral line?

I would a$$-u-me both/either are offered for designed rate of absorption whether a leach field or a French drain...
