We moved into our current residence, which was built in 1972, six years ago. About three years ago, the hot water pipe from the water heater sprung a pinhole leak at the top. It was replaced by a professional plumber. A month ago, the same kind of leak occurred on the cold water pipe into the water heater. The plumber who replaced this pipe said that pipes installed in 1972 are prone to leaking, and that We should replace all of our pipes to assure that none of the pipes in the walls spring a leak. Is the plumber's assessment accurate? Should all of the pipes in my residence be replaced because of the material that was being used then?
