Hey guys, looking for a recommendation here. I live on a hosueboat that was built in the 80's and our shower has an interesting drain design. There's a recess built into the shower pan around the drain, but the drain itself has a slightly tapered edge which creates a little 'moat' effect around the drain which prevents the water from fully draining and there's almost always has water in it from the last shower. This area gets gross pretty fast. In addition, the drain cover is missing so the whole area is generally an eyesore.

I'm looking to 1.) make the drain more functional and b.) make it look good. I'm assuming the best option would be to replace the drain altogether, but I'm wondering if there are any simpler solutions I may not be aware of (inserts/covers/etc.). The drain is threaded so there was a drain plug at some point but it was probably plastic as well.

What would you do?
