Neighbor is replacing his water heater, and is liking this specific one. Can the experts provide feedback on whether this AO Smith is a good choice, or should he look for another?

Those gas controls are a known problem. That said, that’s about the only choice of you buy a heater from a box store.

I still buy and install them but the gas controls suck. The heaters are cheaper at box stores……
