Mr_David, thank you for explaining that. I don't know how I missed that the sanitary tee was already at that set position.

I have to agree that knocking out more concrete, getting a center-drain pan, and upgrading to 2" trap arm and drain would be the better thing to do. It would really suck if the shower pan overflowed.

It doesn't look like it would require so much excavation of concrete that it would significantly increase the amount needed to fill it back in.
