Odd prv

the RHEEM tank is 6 months old.
see the black stuff inside.
is that usual?
i suspect the fella in the factory sprayed the inside of the tank AFTER this prv was installed.

Take a sample and send it into your health department see what it is

Oh no I've seen lots of stuff on the inside of a water heater. It all depends on what type of water you have.
What made you take out the relief valve if the tank is only 6 months old was it leaking?

the PRV spat out water - just a little and rheem said to replace it. they paid.
