no hot water in tub

Hello,

There's no hot water in our tub. When turning the handle, it has cold water, but as continuing to turn the handle towards the hot water, no hot water comes down the pipe and the current gets smaller (only cold water comes out).
In the same room, there's a sink and faucet. In this faucet, both the hot and the cold water work.
The bath hasn't been much in use but we need it to work soon.

Thoughts anybody???

I would turn the water off, pull the cartridge and balancing spool, then clean or replace as needed.

Can you please elaborate what is the cartridge and balancing spool? (pictures maybe?)
Do I need to turn the water off for the entire house or just turn off the water at the shower\tub faucet?
