Hello all! New member here and new home owner with plumbing issue.

My wife and I recently renovated our bathroom on the second floor and when we turn the shower on, the running water noise in the pipes got noticeably louder. Its not too bad on the second floor but the noise seems to be amplified in the first floor and the noise has become an issue with the tenants living under us.

We've tried various things like closing the supply valve to the bathroom half way, and not turning on the shower to the max but the noise is still there. We called the contractor and plumber we used and they don't know why the noise is so loud and now we are out of ideas.

This is the new shower system installed:

We don't want to replace the system without exploring other alternatives but that will be our last option.
Any info / advice will be greatly appreciated!

Is it banging pipes or the sound of running water. What type of pipe did they use to run the new water lines

Sound of running water. They used copper.

We ended up turning the shutoff valve close to off. The sound went significantly down but at the cost of water pressure in the bathroom.

They probably let the pipe touch the framing or drywall. This transmits noise.

They may have undersized the piping and that increases velocity, that increases noise.

Ultimately there’s not much you can do about it now other than rip the walls open and insulate it all.

Thank you for the info! We will try and use the shower as is for now. Thanks again!!
