Kohler Devonshire faucet--replacing pop-up drain

Hi. Kohler sent me part number 1036994 to do the replacement but I can't seem to get it right. Help please!

What are you having problems with? The part# is for a popup. You have to remove the popup rod under the sink. Then lift the old popup out and install the new one being sure the popup rod goes through the hole in the new popup.
