is there room for a thermal expansion tank

Rheem have sent us a replacement pressure relief valve.
but the plumber over the phone says we need a thermal expansion tank.
we did not have any problems with the old tank (13 years old)
is there room?
will the tank need to be rotated?
then the drain from the relief valve will be in the wrong place!

a plumber can install an expansion tank no problem

your relief valve is not piped per code

i have seen post saying they go on the hot pipe and others on the cold pipe!
is there a correct way?
